Man Found Dead With Head Trauma, Gashes Prompts Homicide Investigation In Newark: Prosecutor

Police in Newark are investigating the death of a 40-year-old found with head trauma and lacerations in broad daylight, they said.

Michael Castro, a city resident, was found by officers responding to a service call on the 100 block of Stone Street around 12:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

Castro was outside suffering from head trauma and lacerations, and pronounced dead at the scene at 12:53 p.m., police said.
